Heart of the Girls
An Earth Temple Initiative
Help us raise $20,000 this winter
We have identified 60 families in dire need
$300 per family to last them at least 3 months
*Currently, the average Lebanese person is living off of $50 per month
Our Mission
We are 2 sisters, who have brought together their Lebanese hearts and devotion to the heritage during these heart-wrenching times as we both reside in Los Angeles. We grew up to see Lebanon in a very different state than it is today. We have always known our country to be enduring hardships to some degree; from colonialism to civil war and international interference, we have wished for our people to live in peace and safety. We are dedicating our efforts towards coming together with our incredibly supportive community in Los Angeles as well as our global community of supporters.
The goal we have in our hearts is to contribute to the rebuilding of our country, providing logistical support for children and families, as well as our contribution towards shifting the patriarchy that is affecting young girls and women on a multitude of levels.
Community Needs
Most of the people’s needs are at a baseline security level during these times. As the Lebanese currency value made the dollar currency inaccessible for the community, most to all daily necessary products have been inaccessible as a direct consequence. As COVID hit, the economic crisis heightened, only to be catastrophic after the recent nuclear explosion that left 100,000+ people displaced from their homes.
The community is now in urgent need of:
Pharmaceutical drugs
Financial relief
Medical & Sanitary supplies
Children formula & diapers
Educational electronics, ie: Used iPads
Access to housing and reconstruction of homes
Many pharmacies are no longer carrying the basic medicines for elders, especially those with high blood pressure and diabetes (Type 1,11). Below are medicines in high demand:
Plavix, blood thinner to prevent heart problems
Co-Diovan + Concor 5, treats high blood pressure
Glucophage, controls blood sugar levels
Zinc, Calcium, Magnesium, Ossopan
Lipanthyl, lowers high cholesterol
Panadol for Kids, treats aches/pain
Gerimax, reduces fatigue
Nexium, heartburn relief
Arnica Salve
Organizers’ Needs
We have dedicated 3 weeks of our holiday season to complete a mission trip to Beirut during lockdown, in order to physically distribute the supplies and products to the families we have inventory of (60 families so far).
Our individual needs for the completion of this project are:
Video & Media coverage
Trip sponsorship
What we have done so far
We have been collecting supplies for three months from our Los Angeles community. We have supplies including winter clothes, food pantry, baby products, menstrual pads and tampons. In partnership with Project Cure, we have collected medical Kits for Kids, along with larger kits for neighboring clinics.
Thank you
We thank you for considering donating to our mission in efforts of relieving some of our community members’ dire needs. All donations can be used as a tax write-off, as your gift is being sent to a 501-C3, Federally Recognized Church.
